3 Run the built-in Windows Update troubleshooter
In Windows 11, open Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters. In Windows 10, open Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters.

4 Check disk space and security software
Feature updates especially need adequate free storage. Third-party security suites can also interfere.
